Ahhh the great Yankee – only man to pitch a no hitter – in fact a perfect game – in a World Series. And he had a fine record with the Yankees (but not with other teams!), 45-24. The two short videos below tell the story. I’d read his autobiography a number of years ago – fabulous book for any baseball fan- so knew he’d done quite a bit of drinking the night before the perfect game. He didn’t expect to be in the game!
Larsen was a nice guy, modest about his success, and very popular. His last appearance at a Yankee Old Timers game was last year.
Here’s Yankee announcer Michael Kay talking about Larsen.
