After a battle with cancer and surrounded by love. Nev was eighty, nine years ahead of Brigid. So her big (and only ) brother. Nev had a wonderful career as a ship's pilot. In Brisbane, Australia he'd pilot the big ships up the river and dock them. A few pictures below Tennyson.
Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
Here's Brigid and Nev, and then with Nev's wife Gerry and their oldest daughter June, with Brisbane in the background. This was two years ago when Brigid was visiting in Brisbane.
Brigid is not sure how old Neville is in this. In his 30's? On the back it says in his handwriting – "off to work."
And not sure how old Brigid is in these pictures with the big brother. Four maybe? Long ago.
Adoring her brother!
