Steven McDonald

Gone at 59. A great, inspirational man and a sad loss. I met him very briefly twice. The NY Post article below the picture is a beautiful portrayal of him.

Hero NYPD cop Steven McDonald — who famously forgave the cowardly teenage gunman who left him paralyzed from the neck down 30 years ago — died Tuesday at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Long Island. He was 59. McDonald had been on life support since mucus clogged his respirator, sending him into cardiac arrest, on Friday. Family members and fellow cops, including former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, kept vigil by his side.

I read it all, and it wasn’t enough. A book should be written about this great man. He was and is an example to all both young and old.
He is surely in Heaven now praying for the rest of us.
