Last Saturday’s Sugarloaf Mountain hike of the month

I already posted this Brigid learns geocaching on yesterday’s Sugarloaf Mountain hike   with an amusing short video of Brigid finding a geocache, and here are a few more pictures. Sugarloaf is one of my favorite hikes – less than 2 and a half mile round trip with an elevation gain of about 900 feet. The reward is a lovely view.

Mike and Karen – they are using the more traditional wooden hiking poles.

Here’s everyone – except moi – Mike and Vinnie, Brigid just in the blue cap behind Mike, Karen next to her, Karen Allen (2 Karen’s on this walk!) behind Brigid and Jeanne Marie at the back of the Vinnie line.

About halfway up, with the back of Brigid’s head in the foreground. Can’t remember what she was telling everyone else. That’s Storm King in background, across the river.

This is right near the top; a bit of scrambling –

But worth it

Meanwhile, Karen A, Brigid and Jeanne Marie are pleased about a successful Geocaching treasure hunt about 50 yards further north from the summit. The caches are often in army surplus ammo cans, and that’s what Brigid is holding. Jeanne Marie looks really tall in this picture!

The Sugarloaf summit tree – a piece has recently come off!

love it!

And then back down!

The Gang of Seven, average age 65 years, 5 months. Karen A is the baby of the group … And that’s her cool daypack with all the squares, in the foreground.

Good to see Faranda and his merry band of adventurers tramping through Middle-earth once again, on their way to Mordor to destroy the Ring !
