Fr. Benedict Groeschel, CFR, Rest in Peace

My friend Theresa contacted me this morning with the news that Fr. Benedict had died last night. I’ve posted about him more than a few times – if you type his name in the search box, I’m sure stuff will come up.

I cried.

For Brigid and myself – well he had a great influence on us. We’ve known him for close to 25 years. I called Brigid – she is still in England – and she was out playing with one of her grand-nephews. She said “It’s sad. But he had an amazing life.” And Brigid is right.

I’ll post more sometime in the next few days – in the meantime you can find information here –

  1. I knew him for almost 40 years. He was a truly a great man. It is so fitting that God took him on the exact same day and time as his spiritual father, St. Francis of Assisi. I’d say that was a sign from heaven, witnessing to his holiness. May he rest forever in peace.

Well, Fr. Benedict was a true son of St. Francis. And the fact that he died on the Vigil – it may also show that Benedict kept his sense of humor to the very end!
If you work through the links – the CFR’s now have 113 men and 31 women.

  3. 113 men and 31 women. Note carefully that the only two numbers which make up these totals are 3 and 1. THREE PERSONS IN ONE GOD !!! Another Divine sign from Heaven on the occasion of Fr. Groeschel’s passing ???
