OBITUARY

Jeanne P. Faranda a longtime Ossining resident passed away on Saturday June 7^th, 2014. Jeanne was born in New York City on April 29^th, 1926 and was the daughter of Ivan and Elizabeth (Johnson) Post. She was 88 years old.

Jeanne was a graduate of The College of Mount Saint Vincent, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She later received her MS at Columbia Teachers College. She had a long and distinguished career as a public health nurse, nurse educator and various supervisory roles.

She is survived by her 3 sons Tom, Jim and Joseph Philip; and 8 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph and her son Paul.

Jeanne was very active, along with her husband, for decades in St. Ann’s Church and school in Ossining.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 at Dorsey. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am at Holy Name of Mary Church, 114 Grand St., Croton-On-Hudson, NY 10520. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

This would have been either before or after my Dad shipped off to Korea. He was “lucky” enough to have been all over the Pacific in WW II. as well as being called up for the Korean conflict.

And here around 1990, three or so years before my Dad died of amyloidosis.
