Exercising … and a better brain!

Good feature in the NY Times. Not a quick read, but well worth the time.

For more than a decade, neuroscientists and physiologists have been gathering evidence of the beneficial relationship between exercise and brainpower. But the newest findings make it clear that this isn’t just a relationship; it is the relationship. Using sophisticated technologies to examine the workings of individual neurons — and the makeup of brain matter itself — scientists in just the past few months have discovered that exercise appears to build a brain that resists physical shrinkage and enhance cognitive flexibility. Exercise, the latest neuroscience suggests, does more to bolster thinking than thinking does.

I just managed to put concentrated Dawn in the dishwasher instead of Dishwashing soap but thankfully, I realized it before I flooded the kitchen floor. Read the study, maybe it is time for me to start jogging!

  2. It is a proven fact how exercising can positively affect brain functions. This gives people a stronger reason to pursue physical activities. Regular exercise speeds learning, and improves blood flow to the brain. It won’t just help keep the body fit and healthy; it would benefit the brain as well. That would be a step closer to being a better person!

  3. Informative article, just what I wanted to find.
