Chinchilla conception report

UPDATE: Just got an email saying – “Do you cover the cages at night? Believe it or not, they like “privacy”. Will pass this bit of data along to Brigid and Joe.

Actually non-report, since there appears to have been none, nada, zip.

This despite extensive introduction since Chili, the on-loan stud chinchilla, arrived December 28th (Go here for the story).  He’s spent plenty of time with our two ladies, Dusty and Gloria.

Gloria and Chili have spent the last day and a half co-habitting in Chili’s two level apartment. In the picture below, that’s Gloria on the top floor and Chili ducking into a box. They like to sit together (to keep warm presumably) but that’s it.

Here’s the three of them – you can see Dusty in her own cage. Chili is at the feeding trough and Gloria upstairs. Dusty and Chili’s cages are close enough for them to rub noses, but that’s all they rub, even when they are together.

Brigid and Joe are having GREAT fun with this whole project. More to follow.

If it’s privacy he’s after, don’t tell Chili about your blog, Tom. Or maybe someone did. No wonder he’s shy about making a commitment…bring on the drape and keep away from the keyboard, Tom.

  2. My sources suggest that perhaps a wee amount of Cabernet might do the trick.
