Brigid saves a Grackle

For years we’ve had Grackle nests in the trees around our back yard. And every year, around this time, baby Grackles end up drowning in our pool. This despite our best efforts.

This year we’ve already found two drowned (Along with four squirrels! YIKES! What’s that all about?).

But Brigid on Monday also pulled two Grackles out. In fact it may have been the same dumb bird one twice.

Here’s the first save, which I was home to record early in the AM.

And, after some time drying out, and us on the lookout for cats, the ESCAPE!

    Adorable.
sometimes we’ve gotten tree frogs and salamanders in our pool and had to take them out. . . and sometimes it’s too late. (yes, they should be able to get out if they get in, but perhaps they’re not equipped for such large and deep bodies of water.)
