Oh my God. Seems like only yesterday, etc, etc.
Brigid and I went up for the dinner which is given at five year intervals for the grads on their 5th, 10th, etc anniversaries of graduating. I’ve no doubt that this year there was less attendance across the board for all years, then in past years. The gigantic tent they use, which in the past has been packed, was not particularly crowded. And the attendance numbers from my class were mediocre.
Bellarmine Hall used to be a Jesuit residence, but I believe is now exclusively an administrative building. An attractive building.
Here is Brigid talking to Larry Halloran. I know Larry from writing for the Fairfield U. newspaper. He would write the serious stuff, while I wrote the rugby articles for the sports page. He works in Washington as Minority Staff Director for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
In other words, he does real work, while the actual Congressman are constantly trying to raise money and campaign for the next election. Larry has been to Iraq six times. He feels things there are headed in the right direction.

Here is Dennis Cannon, trying to explain the shadows in all our yearbook pictures (they always put the picture on your ID badge at these things). Way back when we had to have yearbook pictures taken, Dennis very generously offered to take his friends pictures, rather then have us go through the normal school-endorsed photography shoot. Dennis was into photography.
The pictures were fine – except for those shadows … That’s Dennis’ wife Denice and Susan Buckley

Paul Buckley and Tim Byrne don’t buy it –

Looks like Paul’s all photo’d out – that’s Tim’s wife Barbara on the right.

Dennis and Tim having their every-five-year discussion on topics like Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle, and Soren Kierkegaard’s existentialism …

then Brigid wanders back

Photo by Brigid as we show off our yearbook pix vs. today’s reality…

Our next trip back to the University for Brigid and I will probably be in October, for the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the founding of the Fairfield University Rugby Club
