Five days after hospital release and 19 days after end of high dose chemo

I am feeling Chemo fatigue. As in walk up one small flight of stairs carrying a small bag and I am breathless. And always feel a little cold. This is no doubt due to low red blood cell counts. Next Tuesday I will see Dr. K for my first post-hospitalization appointment and it will be interesting to see what my blood counts are.

Other problems are dissipating. I am eating more, and my mouth sores are gone.

And I am following the rules – avoiding groups, resting a lot, and not touching (or eating) any foods on the Neutropenic "do not eat" list. So all of you who thought I’d be running around like a maniac straight out of the hospital, take that!

  2. Hi Tom, Just a quick note to say that I am wishing you all the best and to also let you know that I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog – all of it. I guess because… 1. I’m a nurse (although NOT in the Oncology world) and 2. I agree nearly always with your political points of view.
I’ll keep checking on on you, and you keep up the good work of taking care of YOU!
    Suz
