Today is Brigid’s birthday. She loves the fact that she was born on the same day as the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. AND, that Tim’s birthday falls three days earlier – on the Feast of St. Juan Diego. For non-aficionados of Catholic feasts, Juan Diego was the Mexican peasant who Mary appeared to at Guadalupe. Now Brigid is a great girl. And among her MANY great attributes is one that not every one realizes – she is very tough. Very tough mentally. In fact the toughest 103 pounds anyone is likely to come across. She lived quite well on her own in Jamaica while teaching for five years, she’s been willing to get arrested and do jail time for her beliefs, and she’s put up with me for 26 years. And now she’s handling my lymphoma and treatment with great aplomb. Joe and Tim are crazy about her, and so am I!
