My last outpatient RCHOP chemotherapy is tomorrow. As with the first two sessions, I feel pretty good now, at the end of the cycle of my third session. Only fly in the ointment is that I’ve developed a sinus infection. The sinusitis that I seem to never completely shake off, blossomed in the last four days into a full-fledged attack. This despite the fact that I’ve been on an antibiotic (Bactrim, taken three days a week) the whole time I’ve been on chemo. Sinus infections have been plaguing me the last few years.
So I spoke to Dr. Zeitlin, the ENT physician I’ve seen the last few times I had this problem, and I am going to take the Bactrim every day. Will also talk to the oncologist tomorrow about it.
After the fourth chemo session, it looks like I’ll have to have some scans – CT scan and PET scan – to "re-stage" my lymphoma. This is annoying since it means taking about a half day off for each test. And I was only told this would have to be done last week.
But I do feel pretty good. Despite the sinus infection I was able to do about 45 minutes of cardiovascular work in the gym last evening (bike and the ellyptical trainer) as well as some stretching.
