Col. Edmund M. “Beau” Riely. May 3rd

So many of us knew this was coming, and dreaded it. Ed and Pat Riely are good friends of ours; Beau is their oldest … Beau had an anaplastic oligodendroglioma. He lived for ten years, and most of that time carried on with his military career.

A beautiful life – a true leader.

Beau

His brother Jim posted this on his facebook page.

Yesterday evening we lost our Beau.
After a courageous fight supported by so many of you, our family and friends, Beau passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Renie and their children are truly incredible.  Their home and hearts are constantly filled with unending love and resilience.
Edmund “Beau” Riely was so many things to so many people.
He was the best husband, father, son, brother, teammate, colleague, Soldier, family member, and friend one could imagine.
His love, loyalty, work ethic, care, intelligence, empathy, and toughness were known to all; and his leadership and example led the way for us to follow.
The world’s loss is heaven’s gain, and we are all now lucky to have him smiling down at us from heaven rooting us on.
Details regarding services will follow as soon as possible.
Hug your loved ones today, and make sure they know how much you love and appreciate them; our time here is too short to do otherwise.
Thank you to all for the love, support, thoughts, and prayers.  The Stepinac, Georgetown, Army, MD, VA, DC, NY, and all family & friends are incredible and truly appreciated.

A remarkable career, a great patriot, leaving us too soon. May he be in the loving arms of Our Lord, and may his family, especially our dear friends and neighbors – his parents Patricia and Ed – be comforted in knowing this. Requiat en Pacem.

  2. People come into our lives to mirror God’s Love… Beau did that in spades, may we all take note and follow in his lead, knowing there will be always more to do… May God’s Love and Mercy through His Most Sacred Heart console and comfort the entire Riely, family now and forever…
