My friend John Mark

John mark 2

Lovely guy who died suddenly last Sunday. He had some health issues but I don’t think anyone expected this. John was 71.

We knew him well. John was a retired firemen, convert to Catholicism and incredibly generous with his time and talents. Member of the Knights of Columbus, an active prolifer, and a guy who was involved in prison ministry. And nothing is tougher than prison ministry. His ZZ Top beard was admired by many.

Funny, he died on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  One of the impediments to his becoming Catholic was Catholic devotion to Mary, which is often looked on with suspicion by other Christians. Eventually he figured it out. On arrival outside of the pearly gates I’m sure he got a beautiful escort from the Blessed Mother.

May the Lord welcome him with open arms and congratulate him as a faithful servant in so many ways. I did not have the pleasure of knowing him well, but he was always at Right to Life events. Very sad news. I’m sure many will miss him.
