I follow the author of this brief essay (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.simchafisher.com\/\">Simcha Fisher<\/a>, who has 10 children and I think is a convert from Judaism) a little bit &#8211; I get her few times a week emails. I think her writing ranges from outstanding to mediocre (like mine) but this is pretty good.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.americamagazine.org\/faith\/2021\/02\/28\/return-catholic-church-life-240088?utm_source=piano&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=8039&amp;pnespid=m_Y1pOUADwWNRTLrBum5i_g8ZLuu3TNemZutHMvY\">This is just how we live, and it\u2019s not new. Chaucer, anyone? Dante\u2019s \u201cInferno\u201d? The Gospels? This is just how we live. If there were no mess, there would be no reason for the church to be built to house it. If there were no sin, there would be no need for baptism and confession and the Eucharist. If there were no human misery and wretchedness, there would have been no need for God to become man. I know this, or I thought I did. At home in the Catholic Church, we are a mess, and we cannot seem to help opening the door to show all comers our own weaknesses and sins and hypocrisies.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#0160;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Haha.
