Nvidia<\/a>NVDA 2.99%increase; <\/a> became the first company to hit $5 trillion in market value, the latest milestone in an unprecedented surge that reflects the growing influence of artificial intelligence on markets and the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chip maker\u2019s stock rose about 3% Wednesday to $207.16, giving it a market cap of $5.03 trillion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shares have been boosted by exuberance for AI\u2019s potential and a recent flurry of deals and partnerships with some of the biggest companies in AI and corporate America, from OpenAI and Oracle<\/a> to Nokia<\/a> and drugmaker Eli Lilly<\/a>. Enthusiasm for Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang\u2019s<\/a> speech in Washington, D.C., also juiced gains this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re the linchpin of this entire AI trade,\u201d said Angelo Zino, senior vice president at CFRA Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nvidia is now larger than AMD, Arm Holdings<\/a> ARM -1.56%decrease<\/a>, ASML, Broadcom<\/a>, Intel<\/a>INTC <\/a>, Lam Research<\/a>LRCX 3.25%increase<\/a>, Micron Technology<\/a> <\/a>MU 2.13%increase<\/a>, Qualcomm<\/a> and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing<\/a> combined, according to Dow Jones Market Data. Its value also exceeds entire sectors of the S&P 500, including utilities, industrials and consumer staples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
