Just in time &#8211; check below!)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Australia has loads of nasty, deadly creatures and here&#8217;s one of them &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2017\/02\/24\/boy-miraculously-survives-spider-bite-thanks-to-quick-thinking-dad\/?utm_source=maropost&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=nypdaily&amp;utm_content=20170225\">Boy survives bite from super deadly spider thanks to quick-thinking dad<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"135\" src=\"https:\/\/tomfarandasfolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/6a00d834525a2f69e201b8d2647502970c-200wi.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10829\" title=\"Funnel web spider\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 10-year-old Australian boy has survived a bite from one of the world\u2019s deadliest spiders after taking a record 12 vials of anti-venom, local media reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matthew Mitchell was helping his dad clear out the back shed at their home north of Sydney when he was bitten on the finger by a funnel-web spider that had been lurking in his shoe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt sort of clawed onto me and all the legs and everything crawled around my finger and I couldn\u2019t get it off,\u201d he <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.com.au\/national\/breaking-news\/nsw-boys-incredible-funnelweb-survival\/news-story\/206c97da3d3f956d566c3c27ad4afd4f\">told the Australian Daily Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His family used his shirt as a compression bandage to try to slow the venom\u2019s spread and rushed him to a hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He experienced convulsions but survived after being given 12 vials of anti-venom, which local media said was an Australian record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funnel-web spider is among the world\u2019s deadliest spiders. Its venom attacks the nervous system, causing foaming at the mouth, muscle spasms and potentially death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The spider was caught and taken to the Australian Reptile Park, where it will be milked as part of their program to develop anti-venom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 10-year-old was \u201cas lucky as they get,\u201d Australian Reptile Park general manager Tim Faulkner told The Telegraph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Australia is home to a startling number of the world\u2019s deadliest creatures, including snakes, spiders, jellyfish and octopuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funnel-web is particularly feared, but no deaths have been recorded since the anti-venom was developed in the 1980s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Australia has loads of nasty, deadly creatures and here&#8217;s one of them &#8211; Boy survives bite from super deadly spider thanks to quick-thinking dad A 10-year-old Australian boy has survived a bite from one of the world\u2019s deadliest spiders after taking a record 12 vials of anti-venom, local media reported.
