Jacques Hamel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2016\/08\/04\/martyred-priests-last-words-jihadists-gone-satan\/\">In his homily at the martyred priest\u2019s funeral Mass on Tuesday, Rouen\u2019s Archbishop Dominique Lebrun gave details of the last moments of the priest\u2019s life as he was slaughtered for his Christian faith.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvil is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.normandie-actu.fr\/va-t-en-satan-les-derniers-mots-de-jacques-hamel-pretre-tue-pres-de-rouen_222757\/\" target=\"_blank\">mystery<\/a> that reaches summits of horror beyond what is human,\u201d the Archbishop said. \u201cIs that not what you meant, Jacques, by your last words? Falling to the ground after the first stab, you try to push away your attacker with your feet saying, \u2018Go away Satan!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The archbishop said that the priest then repeated a second time: \u201cBe Gone, Satan!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the same homily, with members of the Muslim community present, Archbishop Lebrun explicitly&nbsp;addressed those who may be tempted by jihad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou who are tormented by diabolical violence, you who are drawn to kill by a demonic, murderous madness, pray to God to free you from the devil\u2019s grip,\u201d he said. \u201cWe pray for you, we pray to Jesus who healed all those who were under the power of evil.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>****<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Symbolically, a stole was placed on a large cross, because the priest\u2019s death was \u201csimilar to that of Christ, unjustly condemned and put to death,\u201d according to a statement from the archdiocese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a separate memorial Mass celebrated for the French priest, Paris Cardinal Andr\u00e9 Vingt-Trois told the Christian <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paris.catholique.fr\/homelie-du-cardinal-andre-vingt-40311.html\" target=\"_blank\">faithful<\/a> that jihadists \u201cwrap themselves in the trappings of religion\u201d while announcing a \u201cGod of death,\u201d whom the cardinal compared to the ancient pagan god \u201cMoloch\u201d\u2014a demon who demanded live human sacrifices as a tribute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThose who wrap themselves in the trappings of religion to mask their deadly project,\u201d Vingt-Trois said, \u201cthose who want to announce to us a God of death, a Moloch that would rejoice at the death of a man and promise paradise to those who kill while invoking him, these cannot expect humanity to yield to their delusion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The comparison between the \u201cAllah\u201d of the Islamists and the monstrous \u201cMoloch\u201d of ancient pagan peoples was especially forceful, since Christians have generally understood Muslims to be an Abrahamic religion, and a \u201cpeople of the book.\u201d Moloch, on the contrary, was a demon who demanded infant sacrifices, often identified with the Carthaginian god Baal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fr.
