Having posted this pastoral scene the other day – NatGeo: "Orphaned Baby Elephants" – nice short video <\/a> I thought the commentator walking among the elephants was taking a big chance – here's why. Video originally on the NY Daily News site –<\/p>\n

This is the terrifying moment a rampaging elephant charged towards a safari truck full of screaming passengers before launching a violent attack.<\/p>\n

The angry animal narrowly avoided injuring one of the visitors as it ran at full pelt towards the stationary vehicle.<\/p>\n

In the clip, which was recorded on a GoPro camera, the elephant approaches the truck and attempts to tip it over onto its side.<\/p>\n

The passengers scream in horror as the vehicle rocks dangerously before the animal finally gives up and returns to its herd.<\/p>\n

The filmmaker, who captured the footage in Hwange, Zimbabwe, later wrote online that the elephant had pierced the truck's tyre before "breaking through the metal like butter, narrowly missing a passenger's leg."<\/p>\n

He added: "No-one was harmed but the safari truck sure took a beating."<\/p>\n

Last month, a safari tour guide was killed when an elephant ran off with a group of tourists riding on its back.<\/p>\n

The animal gored its keeper to death before fellow colleagues came to the aid of the family.<\/p>\n
