{"id":2365,"date":"2015-01-09T05:58:00","date_gmt":"2015-01-09T05:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tomfarandasfolly.com\/?p=2365"},"modified":"2025-09-28T13:24:21","modified_gmt":"2025-09-28T13:24:21","slug":"time-flies-ninth-anniversary-of-my-20-day-stay-in-sloan-kettering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tomfarandasfolly.com\/?p=2365","title":{"rendered":"Time flies: 9th anniversary of my 20 day stay in Sloan Kettering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nine years since I checked in.<\/p>\n<p>I posted about this anniversary in 2008, with some additional links here &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/tomfaranda.typepad.com\/folly\/2008\/01\/tiom-flies-when.html\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\">Time flies when you&#39;re having fun: Today is second anniversary of start of my twenty day stay at Sloan Kettering<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This was for my &quot;high dose&quot; chemotherapy, aiming to kill any remaining surviving cancer cells from my prior four months of chemo.&#0160; The high dose chemo lasted six days, with the remaining time spent waiting for my immune system to re-build itself after I got back my own stem cells (an autologous transplant).<\/p>\n<p>Letting people keep abreast of my therapy for mantle cell lymphoma was the reason I created this weblog, back in September, 2005. Facebook was not very big at that time; if it had been I probably would have just started a facebook account.&#0160; Since then the blog has expanded to include all sorts of things I&#39;m interested in. I still do get frequent visits from people interested in lymphoma and chemotherapy. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society linked to me shortly after I started Faranda&#39;s Folly, although they seem to have changed their policy and I can no longer find my link on their site.&#0160;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nine years since I checked in.
