He&#39;s a priest who spent 50 plus years working for the poor and civil rights (including the rights of the unborn) BUT then at age 79 and disabled, makes a garbled statement?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/10\/08\/nyregion\/benedict-j-groeschel-priest-and-author-dies-at-81.html?emc=edit_th_20141008&amp;nl=todaysheadlines&amp;nlid=5681832&amp;_r=0\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\">The Rev. Benedict J. Groeschel, a Franciscan priest and author known in New York City for his efforts on behalf of the poor and familiar to a worldwide television audience as the bearded friar who denounced modernism and news reporting on sexual abuse by priests, died on Friday in Totowa, N.J. He was 81.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Catholic League had a nice response to this predictable calumny.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.catholicleague.org\/treating-fr-groeschel-fairly\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\">Treating Fr. Groeschel Fairly<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here&#39;s a fair assessment of Groeschel, if anything under-stated.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hvcljournal.typepad.com\/lifenet\/2014\/10\/fr-benedict-groeschel-cfr.html\">Fr.
