This is the fifth installment of my friend Maggie Barbieri's murder mystery\/romance\/comedy series <\/a> I think the first work in any series is very often the most interesting one, but I'd say that Third Degree<\/strong>, the latest in the series is the best after the initial book.<\/p>\n Alison Bergeron continues as a kind of Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Zena the Warrior Princess, all rolled into one person. Very amusing. And she still has her romance going with Detective Bobby Crawford. There's a few new people introduced into the series with, perhaps, roles in future books. <\/p>\n The story starts with Alison stopping into her local coffee shop – she lives in the real-life Hudson River town of Dobbs Ferry – and a fist fight breaks out. The result: a local dies.<\/p>\n And the story goes on from there - lots of unexpected twists and turns with a clever ending.<\/p>\n I am looking forward to #6 in the Alison Bergeron series, coming out this November! <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" "Recent" unfortunately being several months ago.
