His decision to have the President as commencement speaker, and to receive an honorary degree, his subsequent lame explanations, and his now having 80 year old priests and other harmless people arrested for “trespassing” on his campus, allows me now to say “John, you’ve been educated beyond your capacity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After Mass this morning I dropped the boys off at home, told them to turn on and tape the news, and then came over to my office. Two minutes after I got here Tim called me up and said “Mom is on TV right now. She’s being arrested.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brigid had not <\/span><\/strong>gone out to Notre Dame with the intention of any civil disobedience, but I guess last night she decided to do the symbolic thing and be arrested for “trespassing.” After Tim called me I checked my cell voice mail and she’d left a message around 12:15 today – less then an hour ago – that she’d decided to be arrested and would probably be released in a few hours. I then called Tim back and he told me that while “Mom” was on TV being taken off by the police he called her and could hear her cell phone ringing on the television!<\/p>\n\n\n\n I’m posting this a couple of minutes after 1PM.
