She is&nbsp;sailing on the replica&nbsp;of the&nbsp;<strong>Half Moon<\/strong>, the ship Henry Hudson&nbsp;sailed when he discovered the Hudson River. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 400th anniversary of the discovery is next year, and aficionado&#8217;s of the history&nbsp;have been prepping this past year for the anniversary. Brigid got interested because the <strong>Half Moon<\/strong> was a Dutch ship, but Henry Hudson was English. She is toying with the idea of writing a book from the perspective of Henry Hudson&#8217;s son, as if it was a log of the voyage and discovery of the river (no such log by his son exists). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So Brigid has been reading about the voyage,&nbsp;as well as studying the boat. Sunday night she went up to Newburgh to serve as a crewperson for the last sailing of the season, as they move the <strong>Half Moon<\/strong> from Newburgh to Albany for the winter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She&#8217;s called us three times, and is having a great time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s the <strong>Half Moon<\/strong>, docked in Yonkers on October 18th. Not a big ship at all. Not too tough, since the boys are bigger now then when&nbsp;she went to England years ago (on a couple&nbsp;of occasions) leaving me to cope with them for seven or eight days.
