Last weekend we were in Boston at an Anderson family wedding, which you can read about here. Tom Faranda’s Folly: An Anderson wedding in Boston<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe and Tim were with us, and here are some pictures from the rest of our trip. This is Friday, the day we arrived, watching a street performer doing his juggling show in Quincy Market. He told me he’d been juggling for 17 years, since he was ten years old. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had lunch in Ned Devine’s, an Irish Pub in Quincy market, where we’d had lunch the year before when we were in Boston<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday before the wedding we went to the Boston Aquarium. Lots of pictures, probably because we like fish, from our time living in the Caribbean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a “petting area” in the Aquarium. And a big sign up that said “It’s a good idea to not take the animals out of the water.” So naturally Tim…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Aquarium also had a special exhibit on about penguins (I will spare you the pix of penguins mating), and Joe thought it was a riot that this guy had planted himself in front of one of the air conditioning units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was also a special exhibit on about “Jellies” or jellyfish (Note that I did not crop out the Red Sox fan below!). Evidently Global Warming is going to kill all the fish and then “Jellies” will take over the World! YIKES!! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last day (that is Sunday the 26th) in Boston we had a quick trip to Bunker Hill and to see Old Ironsides, and then over to the Science Museum and a “Duck Tour”. The duck tour is very, very popular in Boston – you are on a restored World War II amphibious duck vehicle for a ninety minute combination tour through Boston and then ride on the Charles River. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our drive yakked away the whole time, doing a combination of humor, history, and put downs of Philadelphia (“during the Revolution, they were doing the paperwork and we were taking the bullets”), and of course of the Yankees. And he also let Tim drive the Duck for a few minutes on the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are friends of ours, Mary and Kevin Black, who came by to see us off on our Duck adventure. Years ago Mary worked for me very briefly. They are a caring, compassionate, couple, involved in many good deeds … who become irrational when it comes to baseball…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And here’s a view of Boston from the Hyatt we stayed in – it’s in Cambridge across the river from Boston and is where the wedding reception was held <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the boys first trip to Boston and we managed to cram in quite a bit. I must admit, Boston is a great city to visit, with plenty of character. Next time up, hope to get out to show Joe and Tim Concord and Lexington, and do the “Freedom Trail” tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
