He was nominated by his school for the &#8220;Junior Congressional Youth Leadership Council&#8221; which does programs for junior high school students. We applied and he was accepted, so he is down with 230 other seventh graders &#8220;scholars&#8221; (their term, not ours) from all over the country. The program looks really exciting and I&#8217;m sure he&#8217;ll have a great time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the first time <span face=\"Arial\">Joe has been away on his own ever (Sleepovers with friends don&#8217;t count) and it wil be interesting to see how he does rooming with two boys he&#8217;s never met. I expect he&#8217;ll do fine. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brigid drove him down, and took Tim along. They are going to stay in Washington until Tuesday, seeing the sites. Joe will fly back Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s a picture of Joe this morning as he set out. He avoided the camera, as he was mad at me for suggesting it would be a good idea to take a shower this morning, before he left.
