Yesterday there was an election in Westchester County, NY for three county-wide offices, as well as judgeships, etc. I voted on two (or was it three?) different lines, and did one write-in. I did not vote on any of the major party lines – Dems or Repugs – and haven’t in years. I have differences with the NYS Republican Party, which are dwarfed only by my profound differences with the Dems. The only major party candidate I voted for was Bob Astorino (lost for County Executive), and I voted for him on the Conservative line.    <\/p>\n

Here’s a very good article from today’s NY Times on the Bloomberg mayoral victory Democrats Are Locked Out of City Hall for 4 Straight Terms – New York Times<\/a>. You may have to register wth the Times to read it, but it’s free and easy. Of course, Bloomberg used to be a Democrat. Jumped Parties when the Dems wouldn’t let him run for Mayor. <\/p>\n

Here’s free advice to the Dems, as I quote my own email to a few people this morning:<\/p>\n

"I would never vote for Bloomberg in a million years. But unfortunately it seems to me that his political approach, "ultra-progressyve" on social issues like abortion, combined with a free-market  based economic plan, and a practicality when dealing with issues, is the way forward for the Democrats (politically anyway, if all they want to do is win).<\/div>\n

The vote for NJ Governor broke down this way: General McCllelan 52.7%, Abraham Lincoln 47.3%. Of course that was in 1864. I guess New Jersey’s always been a Blue State.<\/div>\n
