A year ago today I started chemotherapy
There’s an interesting one year anniversary. When I said to Brigid yesterday "Tomorrow’s a one year anniversary" she couldn’t think of what it was. So a year ago today I went over to Phelps Memorial Hospital for a Muga scan (a type of heart scan) to get the OK for the chemo, and then went…

Health update
Today I had my blood counts done at Sloan Kettering in Sleepy Hollow (as per the plan to monitor them) and they were a bit better. At least to the point where Dr Chia decided my red count was good enough to not need the scheduled shot of Darbepoetin, the red blood cell booster, that…

Health update, with labs, and where I go from here
So I had my last dose of Rituxin today. And my blood counts were better. Which they should be, since I had shots of Neulasta (for WBC’s) and Darbepoetin (for RBC) last week. The white count with components looked very good, while my RBC count was still a little low. Hemoglobin was OK. So here’s…

Health update
Had my second dose of rituxin therapy today. Uneventful. Only glitch was I couldn’t get my up-to-date blood counts. The CBC machine at Sloan Kettering in Sleepy Hollow was broken, so the blood was sent to Manhattan. I could call and bug them and they’d fax me the results in a day or two, but…

Rituxin therapy started today
As scheduled, I had my appointment with Dr. Caron at the Sloan Kettering satellite office in Westcheseter, and then the first of four weekly rituxin treatments. Probably as an effect of the shot of neulasta I had about two weeks ago, my white blood count was up to 4.4. Normal range is 4.5 to 10.5,…
