I saw Dr. Gloria Chia today at Sloan Kettering in Sleepy Hollow, prior to the rituxin, and had my blood tested. My white blood cell and red blood cell counts were low, as well as my hemoglobin.
So today they gave me a shot of darbepoetin (last time I had that was in April) and tomorrow I’ll get a shot of neulasta for the white cells. I just had neulasta on July 17th. Only reason they didn’t give me the neulasta today, was because Chia wanted to email Dr. Zelenetz, just to be sure.
I hadn’t seen Dr. Chia in quite a while – not since chemo before the transplant. She was not concerned about the blood cell counts. "it takes a long time" she said, "six months is not a long time."
The rituxin therapy after I saw Dr. Chia was uneventful. One more to go – next Monday morning, when I will also see Chia.
