Battle of Gettysburg, July 1-3, 1863. Ten little know facts

Gettysburgh 1

Very interesting. As I'm typing this I'm wondering how many of the book burning, statue destroying, cancel culture types ever heard of the battle. The statue above at Gettysburgh needs no explanation. The one below is General John Buford, the cavalry officer who slowed the Confederate advance on the first day (And see the link below the picture). The 10 facts video is under 3 minutes long.

This link Buford Identifies the Key Terrain at Gettysburg  is from the 1993 movie Gettysburgh. Sam Elliott is amazing as General Buford – and this particular clip is used in ROTC training as an introduction to Terrain Recognition. It's 5 minutes long.  General Buford died a few months later (December '63) of typhoid at the age of 37.
