Not bad for a part-time job. Westchester legislators vote themselves a 52% raise.

So base pay goes from $49.200 to $75,000 annually. Of course they waited until after the election and bypassed the Compensation Review Board.

The proposed raises didn’t surface until shortly after local elections last month, when all 17 seats on the county Board of Legislators were up for grabs. That was a point of contention for some members of the community as well as lawmakers who voted against the plan. The increases will take base pay for the county Board of Legislators from $49,200 to $75,000 a year, and will also boost stipends for leadership positions. The raises will take effect Jan. 1. The vote was 10-6. It is the first raise since 2005 for lawmakers. By giving themselves raises, the board bypassed a Compensation Advisory Board that is supposed to convene on even numbered years — before lawmakers are up for election.

My Representative, Catherine Borgia, who is in a very heavily Democratic District and who made outrageous accusations against the guy who ran against her, voted YES to the pay raise.
