NY State has 56 of the Forbes 400 billionaires

Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who is worth an estimated $109 billion, is the richest person in New York, according to the Forbes 400 ranking of the wealthiest Americans released Tuesday.

Bloomberg grew his wealth by creating the financial information and media company, Bloomberg, in 1981. He owns 88 percent of the business, which has estimated annual revenues of nearly $15 billion, according to Forbes.
