Farandaville – new family member

UPDATE: That’s Joe with the chinchilla.

Sort of – Rylai has arrived. It’s now back to four people and four chinchillas… This was Joe’s idea and (of course) Brigid went along with it. Not sure where the name is from – I think from a scifi series.

So Rylai is (we are pretty sure) a lady – which will interest Spiderman in the adjoining cage. With Rylai joining Dusty (our oldest chin and multiple mother) and Toby (a daughter of Dusty and sister of Spiderman) it’s now three women to one Spiderman. Up until recently the plan was not to raise any more chinchillas, but the plan may be changing.

Joe will work with Rylai, who they think is around two years old, to make her more sociable.

Our back room – which used to be a nice room that could easily seat eight for a meal – is now half taken over by chins. Dusty and Toby are out of view in this next picture, but if you look, you can see Rylai and Spiderman in their adjoining cages.
