“John Travolta Speaks at the 75th Coral Sea Anniversary in New York”

UPDATE: Good article in the NY Post: Coral Sea also halted Japan’s advance toward Australia — and it is something the Aussies have never forgotten.

This is the event the President and the Prime Minister of Australia (we love Australia!) attended together last night on the Intrepid.

The Battle of the Coral Sea was an important battle – I read Queen of the Flat Tops written in 1943 by a journalist who was on the USS Lexington aircraft carrier, when I was a kid (Maybe in 8th grade). The battle was May 4-8 1942, and while the Lexington was sunk – that’s a picture of it above – the Japanese fleet was turned around

Not sure why John Travolta was chosen to give this quick talk. Maybe because he’s a pilot?

I suspect they chose Travolta for the talk because the Japanese got ‘GREASED’ at the Battle of the Coral Sea !
