Hike of the Month – on the Briarcliff Peekskill Trailway

Actually yesterday – one day late for October but who’s counting?

The north end of the Briarcliff Peekskill Trailway. Jeanne Marie and I went about 5 miles on it starting in the very badly marked Blue Mountain Reservation.

Here’s Jeanne Marie at the top of Mount Spitzenberg (540 ft) and the view is west across the Hudson.

And further south out of the Blue Mountain area, there was a nice wooden bridge over a marshy area on the trail. Since it was the first day of hunting season we both had orange vests … Jeanne Marie had taken hers off for lunch at the top of Spitzenberg.

When I have some time will post a few more pictures from the hike and September’s, which was also very nice.
