Both teams were 5-0, but now Stepinac is the only undefeated team in the NYC Catholic league. They are ranked #2 in the state, and they should (but you never know!) finish #1 in the league with the home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Stepinac was ahead by this at halftime –

But then almost blew it in the third quarter – giving up 16 unanswered points, before getting it together with a final score of this –

  1. Tyquell Fields has made great strides so far this year in a half dozen games as starter.
Malik Crawford has just exploded as a star RB, hits the holes so fast and decisively. Kobe Miranda is developing into a fine receiver.
Bottom line, the talented guys from last year’s JV and backups from last years varsity are finding their roles on this year’s team which is getting stronger as the season progresses.

All true. Tyquell has really improved from the first two games of the season. Some of his throws Saturday were absolute darts. Kobe is a great kid – I used to drive him home frequently from practice last year. He’ll do well in the future – great sense of humor.

  3. I think the Stepinac coaches have done a great job finding the right players for the right positions.
Fields handed off to Giannico for a sweep against Hayes and them got downfield and put a big block on a DB. Nothing big happened that play but eventually those kinds of unheralded contributions pay off.

  4. I can’t believe they’re doing this without Tim Faranda! Does anyone know if Kobe’s mom was at the game?

  5. A half dozen US Catholic HS are playing football in Dublin next year. Come on Step!
