Why in the world would I post something about a baby Okapi? Because Brigid and I "discovered" this strange relative of the giraffe while in the Madrid Zoo, long ago. Summer of '79, I think. We couldn't figure out the animal but loved it!
Very sadly, there are only about 10,000 left in the wild, down from 40,000 not too long ago, and it was classified as an endangered species in 2013. Locally, they are in the Bronx Zoo.
