My mother. Friday evening while we were driving back from NYC we got a call from Bethel Nursing Home, that we should come up “quickly.” She had suddenly deteriorated. From 9pm Friday onwards, either my brother Phil, myself, or Brigid (but mostly Phil) stayed with her, through until a bit after 5pm Saturday. Although obviously at the end, she did seem a bit better and stable, so I advised Phil and Brigid that we could take a few hours off.
Mom must have been waiting for some privacy, because she transitioned into the next life around 7:15, a couple of hours after I’d left!
In many ways my mother had an amazing life, and I’l be posting more about her. Not final on the arrangements.
Here’s Jeanne Faranda, age 14 in 1940.

My mother did the same. I sat round the clock with her for many weeks and the minute I finally left the hospital, gone. Sometimes we hold them with our love. It is a very strong thing that will continue to reach you all the days of your life. We have been blessed by the love of our mothers. My prayers are offered for your solace in warm memories.
Phil I am sorry to hear and you and your family are in my thoughts
So sorry for your loss.
I loved your mom dearly. She had a great wit about her and I often enjoyed the times I spent with both her and Paul. I know she is I’m good hands. Between your Dad, Grandfather, Paul and The Lord I can’t think of better company. May your family feel peace at this sorrowful time.
Tom and all the family, we are sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. We keep you in our prayers at this sad time for you but I’m sure a very joyous time for her. May God’s Peace be with you all
She was beautiful…and I am certain, a very sweet soul. Just because this was a long time coming doesn’t make the loss any easier. Take care of each other.
Love, Rose & family
Phil,
I lost my mother two years ago. Her passing left me with such a void in my life. While I knew we all go sooner or later, I was not prepared to let her go at 82.
I learned to celebrate her life rather than to mourn her death. Her life lessons live on in me. That’s our true legacy in life.
Tom
Sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved mom. She did a great job raising her boys, which is no small feat. Rest assured that she is in Good Hands. God bless all of you.
My condolences to you, Brigid, & the boys. Your mom was an inspiring lady.
my dad did that too Tom. Mike was home from the Marines and stayed all night so I could go home and get sleep. He came home and told me not to rush that they said my dad was not close to dying…he died as soon as mike left
Prayers for you mom and the family…keep us
posted as to the arrangements….and of course we swill meet another time
Having just lost my Mom at age 100 1/2, news of your Mom’s passing touched me in a very personal way. I loved speaking with your Mom…she always had a smile and a giggle you could count on in almost any conversation. How sweet. The journey begins anew, however, and on the “eagle’s wings” of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost weekend! Prayers for her and you and all the family at the loss of one so precious in life, your Mom.
God bless you all!
Tom-
My thoughts and prayers go to you and yours.
Bill
I’m sorry for your loss and offering prayers for your mom and you all.
