Tim, on a Javelin Quest the next two days

Tomorrow Tim will be in the Varsity CHSAA (Catholic HS Athletic Association) Intersectional meet, which is all the Catholic high schools in the metropolitan area, including Long Island. Two weeks ago he won the sophomore intersectionals with consecutive PR throws, the last one being 145’7″. He had the three longest throws in the meet. The year before he did the same thing in the freshman intersectionals.

In the varsity meet (Tim came tenth in last year’s varsity meet) there could be up to three seniors and four juniors with longer throws then he’s had; but I think he has an excellent chance to finish in the top five. To do that, he’ll probably need a throw over 150′.

Tim always does his best throwing at Icahn Stadium and he is psyched, so we’ll see. Monday he will probably also take part in Eastern States Championship, which will put him against the best throwers in the area, public and private schools.

Right now Tim is ranked #4 in NY State among sophomores, #4 overall in Westchester County, and #20 overall in the state, out of 538. In fact, if he were throwing in college, he’d be ranked 57 out of 182 at NY colleges … The meets this weekend will probably be the last ones of the season for him.
