UPDATE: No figuring this – Romney received 2 million fewer votes than McCain did in 2008 & Obama received 10 million less. Just heard that on the radio.
Yup. As Dick Cheney would say, my miss was "Big Time".
Yesterday I posted here How I think the election will turn out that I thought Romney would get 52% of the popular vote and gave my perfectly reasonable rationale. The reality is that Obama has 50% of the popular vote, and Romney 48, with Obama winning almost all the swing states by small margins.
To quote Kurt Vonnegut (Slaughterhouse-Five) "So it goes."
CNN has the very fascinating exit polling in simple graphic form here – President: Full Results
I think this is an even more profound election than the 2008 race, because it should be clear to anyone with a brain, the trajectory that Obama wants to take the Country on, both socially and economically. And evidently half the Country agrees with it, or is at least willing to accept it.
Here's the other posting I put up yesterday which will come true – The best and only reason for hoping Obama wins
Of course, it's also worth recalling two Churchill quotes:
1) "Democracy is a bad form of government, it's just that all the other ones are worse."
And
2) "The best argument against Democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."
Nancy, you were right. And the Supreme Court! Ugh and Ugh!!
