By being named a Doctor of the Church, Hildegard of Bingen, (a popular Saint in Farandaville, thanks to Brigid’s studies of her writings, years ago) is recognized by the Catholic Church as:
a saint from whose writings the whole Church is held to have derived
great advantage and to whom “eminent learning” and “great sanctity” have
been attributed …
She is best known for her mystical writings (yes, she had visions), BUT we’d today call her a “Renaissance Man” (OK, (Renaissance Woman) because of her wide interests and writings, including music and botany, as well as theology. She was born in what is now Germany around 1098 and lived to be about 80.
