Well Timothy Francis Faranda is now Timothy Francis Mark Faranda (he took the same confirmation name I took).
He was confirmed by Cardinal Egan, who did a great job – really a wonderful homily. Cardinal Egan is retired as head of the Archdiocese of NY, but still active, and he spoke about courage and compassion, using the example of the Chilean miners rescue. Egan conducted things with just the right touch of humor. He did mention that he and Msgr. Franco knew each other going way back – they lived in the same apartment complex for 14 years when they both worked in Rome. Perhaps he felt he had to bring his A game for this confirmation …

The pastor of St. Augustine’s (Tim was confirmed there rather then in our parish because he attends St. Augustine’s School), Monsignor Franco, said it was the first time in the 157 year history of St. Augustine’s Parish that a Cardinal had officiated in a confirmation.

Two of Tim with the Cardinal. That’s Jeanne Marie, his sponsor. When Brigid saw these, she said “Tim is very comfortable with the New York hierarchy – he’s on his way to Rome.”

Is he leaning on the Cardinal? Jeanne Marie and Monsignor Franco seem amused …
