How I voted: REAL hope and change

I only voted for people who I view as insurgent reformers – or are at least opposed to the status quo – and who share my values.

So I did not vote for either the Dem (Hall) or Repub. (Hayworth) running for my congressional seat. I wrote in Neil DiCarlo. He won't win; but it's not a wasted vote. The wasted vote is for Hall, the incumbent or his challenger Nan Hayworth.

Brigid and I know Joe DioGuardi, who's running against Gillibrand, the woman who was appointed by Patersen to finish Hillary Clinton's term. It's a shame that DioGuardi did not get much financial support from the Republican National Party, since his background as the only CPA to ever be elected to Congress, and his long record of fiscal conservatism, would have given him an excellent shot at beating Gillibrand. Without money he couldn't get his message out.

I voted for Townsend against the insufferable windbag Schumer (who is in Wall Street's pocket) and for Paladino against Cuomo.

Brigid doesn't follow politics much (she can't vote – not a citizen) but she was appalled by the vile attacks which arrived in our mail. Greg Ball, running for State Senate, was the target of many vicious and dishonest attacks from the NY State Democratic Committee. We've met Greg (ex Air Force Academy) several times – real nice guy. Naturally I voted for him and hope he wins. He's definitely a reformer – many members of his own Party – Repub. – dislike him for his outspokenness as a state assemblymen.

The viciousness of this year's campaigns – and the number of yard signs all over Croton – both set records. It would be nice if the issues were addressed, rather then just mud-throwing. Of course, if you're a Democrat, then you'd have to defned your record …
