Stepinac loses in state finals by four

Too bad. I posted this Tom Faranda's Folly: Stepinac, my high school, wins basketball championship back on the seventh, when Stepinac won the CHSAA NY championship. and moved into the state finals. 

But a great run, nevertheless.

Stepinac's season came to an end yesterday in the CHSAA Class A state championship after a 66-62 defeat by Buffalo's Nichols High School at Canisius in Buffalo.

Senior Thomas Decker saw his high school playing career come to an end.

"It was the greatest four years of my life," Decker said. "The game is going to stick for a while, but when we come back in 10 years, there's going to be a banner hanging in our gym and we're a part of that. I'll never forget that."

Nice comment, and so true!
