My friend (and fellow cancer survivor) Maggie Barbieri

Maggie recently had a feature written about her in the local (Journal News) paper. She and I were both diagnosed about the same time. In fact, the day I had same day surgery to install my mediport at Sloan Kettering, I ran into her in the waiting area, as she was going in for surgery. That was two weeks before I started this weblog.

Barbieri, a Croton resident, is celebrating the publication of her fourth mystery novel, as well as a new chapter in her own life. It's been a year since she's been cancer-free, and she can look back on an agonizing experience with a measure of relief as well as ahead to a successful career as a writer and textbook editor.

Go here for my reviews of Maggie's first three books Maggie and her sleuth, Alison Bergeron , which I posted on my weblog, as well as on amazon.

And here's Maggie in a very interesting brief video from 2008, talking about life, cancer, and her treatment  The latest on skin cancer detection and treatment  There is a brief commercial before the vid begins.
