It had been a draining 40 hours for the team, including a gut-wrenching team meeting Thursday in which Adenhart’s father, Jim, haltingly spoke to the team about how important the club had been to his son. “I haven’t cried since I was 11, and I cried,” Angels pitcher Joe Saunders said. “To see the emotion on his dad’s face, it tears your heart apart.”

Dustin Moseley, a pitcher who shared with Adenhart some of the ups and downs of the climb to the major leagues, said the sudden death of someone that young “takes you out of that bubble you live in as a baseball person.”
