“To the victor go the spoils”

This American political saying goes all the way back to the Presidency of Andrew Jackson. The total control of the Federal government by the Democratic party is giving an astonishing demonstration that this still applies.

Just two examples –

1. The community activist group ACORN – a Democratic party activism and voter registration organization – will be in line to get over $4 billion. They'll be some other "community organizations" in line for some of the money but ACORN's the main one. That's billion, not million.

2. The Census Director (remember, census in 2010 will determine re-apportionment of house representatives and electoral votes) will now report directly to the White House. Census Director to Work Directly with White House | 44 | washingtonpost.com
