The Dent family has occupied 87 Stockton Lane in York, England for 56 years. Currently only Brigids sister Kate is there, as Brigid’s Mother died four years ago at age 91.
I love York and have fond memories of my visits there, going all the way back to the summer of 1978, when I was in England and visited Brigid’s family before we were married.
When I contacted them in England that summer, unbeknownst to me, they didn’t know who I was – Brigid hadn’t contacted them to say she’d met this American who had arrived to work in Jamaica in the town wherer she lived. … she had suggested I visit them, without telling them I might contect them. But that’s another story.
Here are some pictures of the outside of Brigid’s family house.
Like many homes in England, this is what we might call a semi-detached, or two family structure. The adjoining house is attached, but each house is owned seperately.

Here’s Joe, after a boost from his younger brother Tim, clambering over a gate that wouldn’t unlock.

And quite pleased with himself.

Here are the boys horsing around in the backyard. The yard (“garden” in English lingo) is relatively narrow but very long. And it used to be super duper long, with a large section of it a vegetable garden. Quite a huge vegetable garden. About 12 or 14 years ago the back half or so of the yard (“garden”) was sold off to some house builders.

last one – Brigid suddenly challenged Tim to a race in the “garden” and they took off over about thrity yards. Tim won – but only barely!
