How the Giants got to where they’re at

And with the third youngest roster in the NFL – And on the verge of winning the Super Bowl Tom Faranda’s Folly: Countdown to Giants vs. Patriots – who will win?

They may be at the top for awhile.

Anatomy of Success Starts With Brains and Heart – New York Times

“Jerry, he’s always confident,” the Giants’ president and co-owner, John Mara, said of Reese, whose vision seems more rose-tinted and clear than most. “And he tried to assure me all along: We’re going to be O.K., we’ll be in the playoffs, and once we get in the playoffs anything can happen. And I would listen to him, and I’m not sure I was buying it 100 percent.”

Yet the Giants crystallized into one of the league’s best teams.

“I wouldn’t say we’re an elite team,” Reese said. “I think we’re a very good team. We’re trying to get to elite status. We have more to get to for people to call us an elite team.”

A victory over the Patriots would do the trick. But regardless of Sunday’s outcome, the Giants — with the league’s third-youngest roster, a coach expected to sign a long-term contract extension and a quarterback no longer battered by comparisons to his own potential —will probably be considered a favorite to contend again. And again.
